Two Steps Forward... One Step Backward

Today I would like to give my readers an Update on my Spiritual Life, Its amazing what transformation has happened in this short time, Since the catalyst of the passing of my grandmother. I have reverted to my faith, From clinging to the Extraordinary form of the Mass, the law of lex orandi lex credendi has really made an impact, aside from the Liturgical abuses in the previous post when I attend the Ordinary form, the Extraordinary form is truly changing my life.

I would venture to say that I have attended the Sacrament of Penance more in the Last 6 months then in my entire life as a Catholic before I fell away, This is a good thing through this sacrament I am changing habits that needed to be changed.

I have heard our Lord call me to visit him in Eucharistic Adoration, I have been praying the rosary with frequency, things have dramatically changed in the way we live and the company we keep.

With all of this it becomes more apparent the every day spiritual warfare that is being waged has increased as well- I can barley imagine what attacks the Holy Priest's are under on a daily basis as Msgr. Schmitz addressed at the First Mass of Fr. Avis- Sometimes the "Accuser" gets me down and it feels with every two steps forward I take to reform my life........ I take One step backward. This is something I'm afraid that will not end, but I pray when I come to the end of my Journey I have made the forward progress that Jesus wants for me.

Enjoy your Labor Day Weekend

God Bless

Liturgical Abuse

This past weekend I have Prayed at three Holy Mass' 2 of the three were "Ordinary" and One was "Extraordinary".

I regret to inform you that The two "Ordinary" were Full of abuses that I feel are way to common place in this day and age.

Some things I noticed this weekend at Ordinary Mass-

  • Guitar (Electric and Acoustic) Played for all "Hymns"
  • "Hymns" were composed by the Ex-Jesuit Dan Schutte whom has left the Priesthood for the Gay Lifestyle were sung throughout both Ordinary Mass
  • While The Dress of the parishioners attending the Mass was very immodest while the dress is not an Liturgical Abuse per Se.. I would say that it reflects the law of lex orandi, lex credendi
  • "Extraordinary Ministers" Entering the Sanctuary, Opening the Tabernacle and waiting behind the priest before the priest receives communion
  • "Extraordinary Ministers" Grabbing and Gathering the Consecrated host's after communion, scraping the crumbs of the Blessed Sacrament as the priest Drinks the ablutions after communion without gathering the spare particles.. the Priest then stood aside to watch the ministers finish Grabbing at the hosts and place them in the Tabernacle
  • The Priest asked for Applause for the Guitar "Choir" and for the lector, Servers, and Extraordinary Ministers.
  • Random Applause after the priest processed out, for the end of the last "Hymn"
  • No Homily was given at one ordinary mass.. instead a Video was played on the pornography initiative that the diocese Started MONTHS ago.. there was no follow up discussion or talk after the Priest.
  • an "Children's Liturgy of the word" took place during this anti-pornography video when the children returned they had in hand the coloring pages that they were doing during this time

All of this was seen of the course of this past Saturday and Sunday at two Catholic "Community's" in the Johnson County Area one of which brings in over $40,000 in monies per the 10+ page Bulletin with 3 Full pages of Advertisements. (This Community needs Teachers for their "School of Religion" Classes I have seriously given thought to Helping them out)

So why Do I bring this up... its simple .... I feel compelled to do something about it...but I'm not sure what... So dear readers I ask you how can I help change the tide in these parish's that are so geographically close to my home. I look for your suggestions in the comment box

Please Help Me.

EWTN to Broadcast Extraordinary Mass

This Just in... EWTN in Cooperation with the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP) will broadcast a Missa solemnis For the first time in EWTN's 26 Year History

SOURCE: FSSP

Full Article From above Source:

DENTON, Nebraska - AUGUST 17, 2007 - For the first time in its 26 year history, Mother Angelica's Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) will be broadcasting a live Solemn High Mass at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, Alabama on September 14, 2007 at 8:00AM EST. EWTN has asked for the assistance of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter, an international Society of Apostolic Life of Pontifical Right, to help celebrate this "extraordinary" form.

This past July 7th, Pope Benedict XVI affirmed the beauty and importance of the Tridentine Mass by issuing Summorum Pontificum, a papal document encouraging and confirming the right of all Latin Rite priests to use this more ancient use of the Mass starting September 14th. The Tridentine Mass was the normative liturgy experienced by Latin Rite Catholics prior to the Second Vatican Council.

Conversations and Conversions

I have stated before I have been preaching the gospel at work mostly though my actions as St. Francis recommends and that has led to many conversations with mostly "non-denominational" protestants, I have mostly gained a higher respect from them for our faith and some have a sincere interest in the Catholic faith. They have realized what major misconceptions they have held and I have help them search for truth.

One of my co-workers has even ventured to attend the Extraordinary Mass with me, while she was rather lost during the mass she enjoyed it and is open to attending again.

What I would like to know in the comments is what are the big issues you face when you live your faith?

What are the Most common Questions you are asked and the most common practices you must defend?

God Love You

The Assumption Of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary

Luke 1:46-49
And Mary said: My soul doth magnify the Lord. And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. Because he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid; for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. Because he that is mighty, hath done great things to me; and holy is his name.

From The Catechism of the Catholic Church:

966 "Finally the Immaculate Virgin, preserved free from all stain of original sin, when the course of her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory, and exalted by the Lord as Queen over all things, so that she might be the more fully conformed to her Son, the Lord of lords and conqueror of sin and death." The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin is a singular participation in her Son's Resurrection and an anticipation of the resurrection of other Christians:
In giving birth you kept your virginity; in your Dormition you did not leave the world, O Mother of God, but were joined to the source of Life. You conceived the living God and, by your prayers, will deliver our souls from death.

Remember, O most compassionate Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.

When God Said "We"

Today Fulton Sheen In his book "Through the year with Fulton Sheen" provides us with a great view of exactly how close Jesus was to St. Peter

...Another instance of how our Lord Associated peter with himself was in the payment of the temple tax. It is the only time in scripture where God ever associates a human being with himself under the personal pronoun "We" just think how proud you were when, as a child perhaps, your father put his arms around you and said, "We will do this.." Now at the time of the payment of the temple tax our Blessed Lord told Peter to pay it, and he said to pay it "for me and for thee" then he adds, "That we may not scandalize" Here he makes himself one with Peter. Peter is associated with the Master in a way that no one else can ever be associated. We- Christ and Peter. That is why papal encyclicals begin with the word "We"
